The East Coast

A great place to start your Australian adventure is on the country’s east coast. This region is home to some of Australia’s most popular destinations, including Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Sydney

Sydney is a famous city known around the world. This is due in part to the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House which gives the city its dynamic and recogniseable skyline. There is always plenty to do, from seeing the sights to enjoying a lazy day at one of the many beautiful beaches along the coastline. It is a modern city, with extravagant hotels, world-class restaurants, a cool collection of bars and the laid back attitudes out on the coast.

Melbourne

Melbourne gets less international attention, but deserves much more. It is a thriving metropolis of art, culture, music and fashion, and is known for its trendy alleyways, lucious beaches and incredible live music scene, restaurant and cool cafes. If you’re looking to see the east coast, you have not truly seen it at its best until you’ve visited Melbourne.

Queensland

The East Coast boasts the breathtaking Whitsundays, a collection of 74 islands off the Queensland coast, which is also right next to one of Australia’s most iconic travel destinations, the Great Barrier Reef. This world-famous coral reef system is located off the coast of Queensland and offers visitors some of the best scuba diving and snorkeling in the world. The Great Barrier Reef is a must-see for any traveler visiting Australia, and Queensland as a whole is home to some of the best beaches and rainforests in the world.

The West Coast

If you’re looking for a more rugged travel experience, then be sure to check out Australia’s west coast. This region is known for its stunning natural landscapes, including lucious flora and amazing fauna, mountain ranges and infinite coastline. There are also plenty of great towns and cities to explore here, such as Perth and Broome. Sydney and Queensland get the most international attention for their beaches, but the West Coast have some of the most beautiful and idyllic beaches in the entire country.

The Kimberley

The Kimberley – Another great travel destination in Australia is the Kimberley region, located in the far north-west of the country. This area is known for its vast and rugged landscapes, as well as its incredible wildlife. The Kimberley is a great travel destination for those who want to experience nature at its finest, and it’s also home to some of Australia’s best national parks.

Road Tripping

One of the best ways to see Australia is by road. The extensive highways connect great cities to small towns and expansive landscapes all across this giant, sunburned country. There are too many road trips to name, but we certainly recommend that you get in your car and start driving anywhere and everywhere. If you’re looking for some of the most established and celebrated road trips in this great country, go no further.

The Nullarbor Plain

This is one of those bucket list adventures you have to tick off. If you stick to the coasts of Australia, you might forget that the majority of Australia is semi-arid and arid desert; an unforgiving country with limited trees and resources. While that in itself does not sound overly appealing, you have not seen a sunset until you’ve seen it in the desert located along the Great Australian Bight. The drive up the Eyre Highway (named after the guy who tackled it first) takes about two days and covers over 1600 kilometers. Because of the grueling nature of the drive, it is important to make sure that before embarking on this adventure, that you are logistically prepared to cross the Nullarbor. This means getting together all the necessary safety equipment, are stocked up on petrol, food and water, and have radios and tools to fix your car if anything goes wrong.

Great Ocean Road

You have not seen beauty until you’ve driven along the bottom of Australia on the heritage-listed Great Ocean Road. It is 240 kilometers of open, winding highway stretching between Torquay and Allansford. You will have spectacular views of the ocean the whole way along, and there are plenty of campgrounds and beachside small towns to stop off at along the way. You can also cross another famous Australian site off the list – the 12 apostles. These unique, 45-metre high rock formations were formed by erosion and have stood off the great ocean road (near Port Campbell ) for around 20 million years. It should be noted that while the site is still called the 12 apostles, only eight of them remain standing.

How to stay safe on the road

If you’re depending on your car, you’re going to need to have a trust mechanic on standby. Of course, when you’re traveling, this is easier said than done. If you get into trouble, we recommend a mechanic company like Enji which helps put you in touch with local mechanics and even gives you a real-time price comparison so you can make the best decision for you.

The Northern Territory

The Northern Territory is another fantastic travel destination in Australia. This area is known for its natural beauty, as well as plenty of amazing things to see and do, such as visiting Uluru or cruising the Nitmiluk Gorge or checking out ancient indigenous art at Kakadu National Park. If you’re looking for an adventure, then the Northern Territory is the place to be – it’s home to some of Australia’s best outdoor activities, including hiking, camping and fishing.

Australia has more travel options than could be written in twenty books, but that is the beauty of travel – you make your own adventure. With plenty to choose from, from coast to coast, you will not have any trouble finding something to do or something to see while visiting this great island continent. Whether you’re looking for a city break or an outdoor adventure, there’s something for everyone in this incredible country.
