As a car owner, you dread the day your car starts to make funny noises and show the telltale signs that it’s on its last leg. Cars don’t last forever, though. If you’ve spent some time online looking up junk car buyers near me, you are probably ready to get the ball rolling at saying good bye to your beater. Take a look at these 4 easy options you can choose from if you’re ready to move on.

Sell it yourself.

You can list your car on a website like Auto Trader or Craigslist – just remember that you are responsible for selling the car to the buyer. If you want to sell it outright, do your research and check out comparable cars on Auto Trader and utilize Kelley Blue Book. List your car for a fair price– if you don’t, you probably won’t get any inquiries. A plus of selling your car yourself is that you will get more money than you would get if you took it to a dealership, but you have extra work on the front end too. People want to buy cars that are clean on the inside and out. You need to take high quality, clear images of your car and write a thorough description of it in order to generate the interest of potential buyers.

Go to a car dealer.

If you’re looking for a company to help you, easy to use options like CarMax and AutoNation are growing popularly. You can stop in, have your car evaluated and usually leave with money in your hand in about an hour.  Car dealers save time, are easy and convenient for the seller and offer guaranteed cash for your car. However, you won’t get top dollar for your ride especially if it won’t run.

Donate it.

Not only is donating your car a tax write-off if you donate it to a 501c3 organization, it also feels good. You can’t put a price on altruism. The downfall to donating your car is that you have a lot of paperwork to fill out and follow-up to complete the transaction and the return is small compared to alternate options of junk car removal.

Take it to the junkyard.

Once that’s done, you can always sell your old car for scrap metal. If your car is next to impossible or too costly to repair, call a junkyard or find a reputable one online. If your car won’t run, this is one way to get it off of your property and get some cash. Working with a car removal service is ideal if you’re driving a car in poor condition and don’t want to attempt to sell it or repair it to get it into working order.

Getting rid of your old car may seem stressful, but you have plenty of options to choose from. Whether you’re in the market for a minivan or luxury sports car, ridding yourself of your current unwanted wheels doesn’t have to be cumbersome or take a lot of your time.  You just have to narrow down your options and figure out which is the best for you and your old car.
